One of the first steps in developing a cultural plan or forming a community arts organization is to identify local cultural assets and resources. A cultural inventory identifies people, places, and organizations that are unique to your community.
There are five basic steps to conducting an inventory:
- 1. Organizing a committee
- 2. Engaging the community
- 3. Identifying assets and resources
- 4. Assign a community benefit
- 5. Document the cultural inventory
