Past Workshops
Cultural institutions participating in past programs found the Community Archiving Workshop to be a great way to kick start processing and preservation planning of collections while learning from professionals. In 2018, workshop participants processed over 100 recordings for the Medweganoonind Library and Tribal Archives of Red Lake Nation and in 2019 over 200 analog assets and over 800 digital assets were processed for the Malki Museum in Banning, California and the Northwest Museum of Art and Culture in Spokane, WA. In 2022, workshop participants inventoried 205 audiovisual assets for the Agua Caliente Tribe of CupeƱo Indians. Examples of other past workshops are available here:
The "Audiovisual Collections Care and Management Workshop" is part of a three-year project to help Native communities provide better care for AV collections. The project will study the needs of collecting institutions holding Native audiovisual materials, develop regional training hubs, and provide robust training in the care and management of audiovisual collections. Support for the project is provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
